For The Record: Staging Realities will examine the role of set and stage design in music videos and live events. Contemporary examples will form the basis for a discussion on spatial techniques deployed for reality creation, as well as how staged live events are optimized for the use of mobile video recording and circulation devices. With Lauri Faggioni (director and production designer), Chiara Stephenson (stage designer and scenographer) and a remote interview with Tawbox (creative directors Chris "Bronski" Jablonski and Amber Rimell of a.o Stormzy set for Glastonbury Headline 2019). Moderated by Shay Kreuger.

Lauri Faggioni

Lauri Faggioni is a director, production designer and choreographer. She worked as a production designer and prop-maker on numerous projects with Michael Gondry, earning both MTV and MVPA awards for her work on Steriogram's Walkie Talkie Man and Gary Jules' Mad World. She was the designer of animals and accessories for the feature film, The Science of Sleep. She collaborated on numerous music videos and commercials with directors Johan Renck, The Pelorian Brothers, and Ellen von Unwerth, among others. Lauri has also served as the production designer on the feature films, Dave Chappell's Block Party, Downloading Nancy and the upcoming Untitled Keith Richards documentary, directed by Johnny Depp. She recently designed the short film As Told to G/d Thyself directed by Bradford Young, Terence Nance, Jenn Nkiru, Marc Thomas and Kamasi Washington - known as the Ummah Chroma collective. Lauri's directorial debut, the video for Devendra Banhart's A Ribbon premiered at New York's Museum of Modern Art, and went on to win 'Best Animated Video' at the MVPA awards that year. She has since directed films for celebrated artistsBright Eyes, Iron And Wine, Monsters Of Folk, A Fine Frenzy and Blonde Redhead.

Chiara Stephenson

Chiara Stephenson is a critically celebrated International stage designer, dreative director and artist, blurring the worlds of design and performance across, theatre, dance, fashion, exhibitions, installation art and large-scale music concerts and tours. Chiara’s creative approach partnered with her broad and varied skill set have seen her design award nominated concerts and performances for Björk, The XX, Sampha and Lorde to name a few. Outside the music world her work as a designer has been seen in London’s West End and most recently the World Premiere of the full-length ballet Sleeping Beauty at Leipzig Ballet, Germany. Chiara maintains the constant desire to create more emotional, immersive, sensory and effecting experience for audiences and visitors, ever more so in this continually growing digital and screen-based age.
