Live from G/D THYSELF with Jiv the Chief

Join a special performance and workshop by Jiv the Chief in collaboration with HipHopHuis - our first Live from G/D THYSELF event. In this Friday morning series, artists and performers share their own spirit strategies from The Ummah Chroma’s installation in Het Nieuwe Instituut. You can participate at home.

We kick off the Live from G/D THYSELF programme on May 8 with a special performance and workshop by Jiv the Chief in collaboration with HipHopHuis. It takes place from 11am to 12 noon.

Jiv the Chief

Jiv the Chief started out as a dancer in the hiphop scene, going on to become an event host and a presenter on national television. His mission is to represent urban culture and to bring out its hidden treasures. He places the focus on energy, creativity, fun, and being proud of who you are.

In the weeks following, there will be performances and workshops by krump dance performer The Empress (Aissa Traore), Rotterdam-based collective The Sacred Boiling Tub and performing artists OTION (Guillermo Blinker) and Giovanni Maisto Ferreira. See the agenda for the full programme.

All the performances and workshops are offered as a livestream on live.hetnieuweinstituut.nl/ and Facebook Live.

Every other week, the installation is open to our communities to use as a ritual space for whatever spirit strategies they want to execute and share with our audiences. Please make sure you apply for a time slot by emailing gdthyself@hetnieuweinstituut.nl.
